With so many online services available to choose from, it can be hard to keep track of your identity across multiple platforms. Which is why I created this website as a way to introduce myself and manage my reputation online; my website is a way for me to centralize these sources of information, and do so with my own style.
I’m passionate about technology and how it is evolving and changing our society. I realize that every new generation will always be on the cusp of new technology, and I would love to say we’re on the verge of some of most significant scientific advances in ages, but the truth is there will always be something bigger and better. Accepting that, I consider myself a dreamer, always trying to envision the next big application of technology. I believe this constructively influences my work in the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) field, I’m always looking for the next best thing and trying to move forward.
In March 2011, I made an informal prediction that social signals such as the Like button, +1, and @mentions would eventually have a significantly greater importance in online business reputation management. Search engines are now utilizing social signals extensively in their SERPs; in some cases more than traditional link-building models. Over the course of this past year, I have watched Google take massive strides into the social environment on the Internet. We have seen the proliferation of the Google +1 button all across the web for awhile now, as well as extensive redesigns of the Like button from Facebook, so that people may take any action on the web. We have seen Bing integrate with Facebook for rich snippets in SERPs. We have also seen how committed to social Google is; in January of 2012, Google launched Search Plus Your World. It is aimed at serving you more relevant and personalized results, and there has been a lot of praise and a lot of dissent about it. I believe social and personalization are the key to moving forward in the finding-good-content algorithms.
